Portal 6 at Mupani Mine was established by the client, located approximately 10km from the existing concentrator. This project involved surface conveyors, crushing facilities, and a kidney stockpile. Work commenced in 2019 and continued through early 2021. Progress was somewhat hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020. All site operations ceased completely for three months, and when they resumed in July, they continued under strict COVID regulations. Due to these restrictions, vendor support for the mechanicals was limited.
The fabrication and delivery of galvanized steelwork were managed by our partners, Viva Engineering, in South Africa.
Platework was fabricated in Hogarths’ Bulawayo workshop.
Hogarths supplied the piping for the project and handled the installation of steelwork, platework, mechanicals, and piping.
As the main contractor, Hogarths was also responsible for the supply and installation of the electrical project, using Heavy Voltage Construction as a sub-contractor.
